Downtown Links Constructors (DLC), under contract with the City of Tucson Transportation and Mobility Department, continue pre-construction field activities as they prepare for roadway construction. The traveling public will see equipment, work crews and short-term traffic control during this investigative phase of work which includes; surface, subsurface, geotechnical, environmental and survey verifications. The traveling public should anticipate the following:

On Friday, May 15, 2020, from approximately 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., the contractor will collect asphalt samples by coring into the roadway in several locations within the project limits – along the north side of the UPRR from Broadway to Sixth Street and then west along Sixth Street to approximately Church Avenue.

Motorists should watch for brief lane restrictions (approximately 15-minutes at each location) in the area of work.

On Tuesday, April 28 and Wednesday, April 29, from approximately 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, the contractor will conduct survey operations on sewer manholes located within the project limits.

Work involves the contractor opening each manhole to determine the material it’s constructed of and the condition of the structure.

Motorists should watch for brief lane restrictions (approximately ten-minutes at each location) in the area of work.

On Thursday, March 5, 2020 the contractor will conduct pavement patching operations along the sections of roadway previously disturbed by pre-construction field activities.

Motorists should watch for temporary lane restrictions and/or flaggers directing traffic around the work area in the following locations:

7 a.m. to 4 p.m.  

• Seventh Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets

9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

• Sixth Street between Main and Church avenues
• Stone Avenue from Sixth Street to just north of Fifth Street
• Sixth Avenue between Sixth and Seventh streets
• Church Avenue between Sixth and Franklin streets
• Seventh Avenue/Toole Avenue to Church Avenue/Franklin Street

• On Wednesday, January 29, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the eastbound lanes of Toole Avenue will be closed between Stone and Seventh avenues.
• On Thursday, January 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. the outside lane of westbound Sixth Street will be closed between Sixth and Stone avenues.
• Business access will be maintained.
• Northbound (right) turn movements from Sixth Street to Stone Avenue will be permitted.
• Westbound (right) turn movements from Sixth Avenue to Sixth Street will be permitted.
• On Friday, January 31, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Ash Road will be closed between Fifth and Sixth streets. Access to residents and businesses will be maintained.
• On Friday, January 31, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. the eastbound lanes of Seventh Street will be closed between Sixth and Arizona avenues.
• On Friday, January 31, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. parking will not be permitted along the east side of Stone Avenue between Toole Avenue and Council Street. Access to businesses will be maintained.

• On Monday, January 20, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., the inside lane of southbound Church Avenue will be closed between Sixth and Franklin streets.
  • Southbound turn movements from Sixth Street to Church Avenue will be maintained.
  • Left turn movements will be permitted from Church Avenue to Franklin Street.
• On Tuesday, January 21, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. the designated bike lane along the east side of Stone Avenue will be closed between Toole Avenue and Council Street.
• On Tuesday, January 21, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. the Toole Avenue westbound left turn lane will be closed between Seventh and Stone avenues. Toole Avenue through travel and right turns will be maintained.
• On Wednesday, January 22, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. westbound Seventh Street will be closed between Arizona and Sixth avenues.
  • Arizona Avenue will remain open.
  • Parking along the north side of Seventh Street between Arizona and Sixth Avenue will not be permitted.
  • Access to businesses will be maintained.
• On Thursday, January 23, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. westbound Seventh Street will be closed from Sixth to Seventh avenue. Business access will be maintained.
• On Friday, January 24, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. the sidewalk along southbound Ninth Avenue will be closed between Fifth and Sixth Streets.
• On Friday, January 24, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. the shoulder along westbound Fifth Street will be closed from Stone to Fifth avenue. Parking along this section of westbound Fifth Street will not be permitted. Access to businesses will be maintained.
